Darcy Gutierrez is a Latinx game developer, accomplished illustrator, and passionate games educator.Darcy's creative journey began with a profound fascination for the intersection of art and technology. Undergoing a traditional illustration their dedication led to the achievement of winning the PSArt competition. As a result, their artwork was showcased at The MET Museum for a multi-month display. The piece resonated with audiences through depictions of Latinx culture and personal experiences.However, Darcy's interest in tech led to creating experimental work as a game developer. Their game Report on the Death of Robert Evergreen weaves together digital and physical media where the player uses a cassette player and tapes. This project was awarded the title of "Most Anticipated Game of 2023" at the Unreleased Game Arcade, and was nominated for the Live Action Spotlight award at IndieCade.Beyond their artistic and game development endeavors, Darcy is a games educator, dedicated to nurturing the next generation of game developers. Born and raised in the projects of Brooklyn, New York their commitment to diversity and inclusion in the gaming world is key to their goals within the industry. In relation to this Darcy has spoken at conferences such as Games 4 Change “From Player Passion to Global Impact – A Journey of Creation, Learning, and Change” and the “Future of Indies” panel at IndieCade to share how their work as an educator impacts the game industry.

  1. A short narrative puzzle game. A creator oversees a tiny world, where they help a beautiful garden grow by untangling its roots. As the creator spoils the garden with love, it becomes greedy and gradually gives itself over to corruption. Thus, the creator has no choice but to destroy their creation.
